Training in Colorado

This past weekend I was in Colorado Springs training.  I had four fun filled days training and learning with the Vanguard crew.  I had such a great time and learned a ton!!!  I'm so excited to put what I learned into practice.

The altitude and cold wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be... maybe I don't hate the cold after all...

We had time to stop by the Olympic Training Center before I left.  What a cool experience!  Talk about a great source of motivation!!


They definitely couldn't of found a more perfect place to put the OTC.

Winter Doldrums

Winter is a hard time to to stay motivated to train.  Your season is over and the next season is still a long way off.  A good way to stay motivated is to find active things to do with friends and family.  Take a TRX class together... or yoga or pilates etc.  If it's not too cold where you are find something active to do outside with others.  Maybe join a masters swim group to help motivate you to get in the pool during those cold winter months.  Sign up for a race.  Having that financial commitment will help motivate you and remind you that you are committed to something.  Vary your workouts so you don't get bored.  Put stickies on your bathroom mirror with reminders of a race you've signed up for and goals you have.

Love Luna Bars!!!


I received an assortment of Luna bars today!   


White Chocolate macadamia, Toasted Nuts 'n Cranberry, Chocolate Chunk, Lemon Zest (my favorite), Blueberry Bliss, Chocolate Raspberry, S'mores (another favorite), Peanut Butter Cookie, Peanut Honey Pretzel, Mint Chocolate Chip Luna Protein.

Some of my favorites and many new flavors for me.  Really excited to try the new (to me) flavors!!!

I regularly use Luna bars as a snack during the day.  Whether it's just a regular snack or a pre or post workout snack.  I love the company and their values!!!

Oh just found out today that they now make Luna minis.  I think for now they are just available at Sam's Club.  If anyone finds them else where let me know!!!

Congratulations!!

I'm so incredibly proud of my athletes that raced this morning in the Houston marathon and half marathon.  Robert posted a personal best time.  Congratulations Robert!!!  Mike qualified for Boston under 6 minutes of the qualifying time.  Congratulations Mike!!!  Way to go guys!!!  Time for some well deserved rest!!

For most people a healthier diet and more exercise are top on their new year's resolution list.  Instead of following a fad diet think about incorporating healthy eating and exercise as a lifestyle.
